Head of Engineering - Miza
Lead the engineering vision at Miza (Saudi Arabia): own architecture, scale a fintech team, and ship reliable platforms for exclusive investment access.
Location: Saudi Arabia (on-site) Type: Full-time
About Miza
Miza is a digital wealth management platform on a mission to democratize access to exclusive global investment opportunities. We provide high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) with access to top-tier private funds, pre-IPO deals, and alternative investments, opportunities traditionally gated by high minimums and opaque networks.
Backed by Sanabil Venture Studio, Miza is reimagining the private wealth experience through a hybrid of cutting-edge technology and curated investment access. We're building a platform where high-net-worth investors can effortlessly participate in some of the world’s most compelling private funds across multiple asset classes.
As we enter a critical phase of growth, we are looking for a Head of Engineering to join our founding team.
The Role
We're hiring a Head of Engineering to own everything from architecture decisions to team culture. You'll inherit a solid foundation, a modular monolith that's been thoughtfully designed for scalability and take it from here. This means shipping new product phases, managing and scaling the team from ~6 engineers to whatever we need, and making sure the platform is rock-solid as real money flows through it.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll be in the codebase when it matters and in hiring conversations when it counts. If you've built and scaled engineering teams at fintech or investment-adjacent startups and you're excited about the Saudi market, we want to talk.
What You'll Do
Own the technical roadmap. We are shipping our core investment management platform. You'll help define what gets built, in what order, and why.
Scale the team. We're ~6 engineers today. You'll decide on team size and structure and, set up engineering processes that don't feel like bureaucracy, and build a culture where good engineers want to stay.
Ship product. You'll work closely with product and ops to turn requirements into running software. You should be comfortable reasoning about complex transaction lifecycles and making them better.
Drive platform reliability. Real money flows through our system every day. You'll own SLAs, monitoring, incident response, and the general "nothing catches fire" mandate from a technical perspective.
Make architectural calls. When to extract services, how to handle the transition from manual to automated settlement, how to integrate with new banking partners, these decisions will land on your desk.
Our StackTypeScript/Node.js backend, PostgreSQL, Redis, with a mobile app and admin panel as clients. We care a lot about type safety, async processing, financial correctness, and building systems that are designed to scale before they need to. You'll get the full picture during the interview process.
What We're Looking For
8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years leading engineering teams. You've managed 10+ engineers and know how to hire, retain, and grow good people.
Deep backend expertise. You've built and operated production systems in TypeScript/Node.js. Experience with NestJS is a big plus
Fintech or regulated industry experience. You understand what it means to build systems where correctness isn't optional. You've dealt with ledgers, reconciliation, or transaction processing before, ideally in investment management, banking, or payments.
Comfort with async architectures. You've worked with message queues (BullMQ, RabbitMQ, SQS, etc.) and can reason about idempotency, failure modes, and eventual consistency in financial contexts.
Database fluency. Strong PostgreSQL experience. You've designed schemas for financial data, dealt with read/write separation, and thought carefully about data integrity at the application and database layers.
Product sense. You can translate a product requirement into a system design that's both correct and shippable. You push back on scope when needed and find pragmatic solutions.
Willingness to be based in Saudi Arabia. This role is on-site. You're either already here or excited about relocating.
