Head of Engineering - Miza
Lead the engineering vision at Miza (Saudi Arabia): own architecture, scale a fintech team, and ship reliable platforms for exclusive investment access.
Sanabil Studio is a venture builder that blends industry expertise, technology, and startup know-how to turn bold ideas into real businesses. We take concepts from zero to launch, and when a venture proves its potential, we back it with seed funding and hands-on support to help it scale.
Miza is one of those ventures — a digital wealth management platform giving high-net-worth individuals access to top-tier private funds, pre-IPO deals, and alternative investments that were once gated by high minimums and opaque networks. We're reimagining the private wealth experience through technology and curated investment access.
We are looking for a Head of Engineering to join our founding team — someone who can take a solid technical foundation and build it into something exceptional, as real money flows through it every day.
THE ROLE What you'll own here.
Own the technical roadmap — define what gets built, in what order, and why as we ship our core investment management platform.
Scale the engineering team from ~6 today to whatever we need, with the structure and culture to match.
Set up engineering processes that don't feel like bureaucracy and build an environment where good engineers want to stay.
Work closely with product and ops to turn requirements into running software, including complex transaction lifecycles.
Own SLAs, monitoring, and incident response — the "nothing catches fire" mandate lives with you
Make architectural calls: when to extract services, how to handle the transition from manual to automated settlement, how to integrate new banking partners.
Drive platform reliability as real money flows through the system every day.
Our stack is TypeScript/Node.js backend, PostgreSQL, and Redis, with a mobile app and admin panel as clients. We care deeply about type safety, async processing, financial correctness, and building systems designed to scale before they need to.
THE PROFILE You're probably a fit if…
You have 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years leading engineering teams of 10+ people.
You've built and operated production systems in TypeScript/Node.js. NestJS experience is a big plus.
You've worked in fintech or a regulated industry where correctness isn't optional, ledgers, reconciliation, or transaction processing in investment management, banking, or payments
You're comfortable with async architectures: message queues, idempotency, failure modes, and eventual consistency in financial contexts
You have strong PostgreSQL experience, schema design for financial data, read/write separation, and data integrity at every layer
You can translate a product requirement into a system design that's both correct and shippable, and you push back on scope when needed
You're based in Saudi Arabia or genuinely excited about relocating; this role is on-site
Bonus: experience with tRPC, bilingual/RTL applications, capital markets, or Saudi/MENA fintech regulatory requirements
THE ENVIRONMENT What working here actually looks like.
Founding Team Energy: You're not joining a mature org. You're joining a founding team at a critical growth phase, where your decisions shape the architecture, culture, and direction of engineering at Miza.
High Stakes: High Trust Real money flows through this platform. You'll have the autonomy to make the calls that matter and the accountability that comes with it.
Backed and Building: Miza is backed by Sanabil Venture Studio, giving you the resources and support of a studio while operating with the speed and ownership of a startup.
